Darius is a key member of the firm and leads team members when preparing high value Bills of Costs and objections. He has considerable experience in drafting high value bills, objections and submissions in a range of costs matters across multiple jurisdictions in Australia. In addition to a considerable costs practice, Darius has heavily assisted the Principal Solicitor in a range of litigated matters including in commercial litigation and professional negligence.

Darius has experience in preparing complex submissions on costs, affidavits, various court documents, and has attended mediations in the Victoria Costs Court. He has conducted costs assessments in some high-profile defamation matters. Achieving remarkably high costs recoveries on assessment.

Key achievements at the firm include the following:

• $168,000 recovery for a Homeowner from icare following a successful costs assessment.
• Recently achieving a recovery of 88% of the bill is claimed, plus interest, in an ordinary costs assessment.
• Successfully securing Security for Costs against a Company, as well as obtaining a forthwith order for recovery of those costs of the application. This garnered negotiations and a settlement prior to the final hearing.
• Instructed in a high value solicitor/client assessment in a range of construction matters, with total costs exceeding $6 million.

Darius graduated from two UK universities where he achieved LLB, LLM and LPC degree classifications, including a Masters in the use of “smart contracts” within a jurisprudential vacuum. Darius’ interests include golf, personal fitness, almost every sport and good food.
